BAAC Scholarship Program
I’m sure you have a memory of the first time you set foot on Mississippi State University’s campus.
For me, it was in June 1969 as a new freshman that I first arrived. I was only 15 at the time, and the first member of my family to attend college. Equally importantly, I was a member of the first group of African Americans to be admitted to MSU. With my sights set on a degree in aerospace engineering, I became the second African American to graduate from the program. Nearly 50 years later, I am considered to be a black pioneer of MSU.
Today as an active and humble member of the MSU Black Alumni Advisory Council (BAAC), head of the BAAC scholarship committee, and proud member of the Department of Aerospace Engineering’s board of advisors, I, along with fellow BAAC members, am striving to pay forward the foundational support we all incurred that enabled us to enroll at State.
To that end, BAAC is again reaching out for your generous support for this year’s annual giving campaign. Your support will assist black MSU students who demonstrate financial need and leadership ability, with preference given to first-generation university students.

Please be a part of our continuing story at MSU. Your generous donation will make a positive difference and will give the next generation of black leaders at MSU a hand up for success.
Thank you and Hail State!
Respectfully,

Class of 1975
P.S. Pay it forward! Support the next generation of black leaders at MSU with your gift to the BAAC Scholarship today!
