Please join us in remembering Ken Miller, President and Founder of KEM and Associates LLC, by continuing his legacy of mentorship, generosity, gratitude, and innovation by continuing his goal to support the next generation of MSU Black Engineering Leaders with a contribution to the Kenneth E. Miller Excellence Endowment Today.

In 1969, at the age of 15, Kenneth E. Miller entered Mississippi State University, as the first member of his family to attend college. Equally important, he was a member of the first group of African-Americans to be admitted to MSU. He set his sights on a degree in aerospace engineering, and, in 1975, became the second African-American to graduate from the program. As he modestly acknowledged, he is still considered to be a Black pioneer at MSU.

The education that Ken received in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at MSU prepared him for his extraordinary career in military aviation. A true patriot, he served his country with over thirty years of civilian service to his beloved U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He retired as one of the highest ranking civilians in the military service. Ken then became a globally recognized Defense and Aerospace Strategist and trusted advisor with a renowned international network when he established a highly respected and successful consulting business serving the defense, security and aerospace industries.

Ken’s intelligence, leadership skills, and quiet demeanor allowed him to work across the board to laser in on creative, and often ground-breaking solutions, to difficult and complex issues. He earned and enjoyed the deep respect and admiration of peers, colleagues, and leadership from all sectors and echelons of society, the military, and government.

Ken never forgot his experiences at MSU and gave generously of his time and resources to enhance the educational experiences of Black engineering students. He proudly and humbly participated in the MSU Black Alumni Advisory Council (BAAC) and as a member of the Department of Aerospace Engineer’s Board of Advisors. He set his sights on ensuring that these students had the funds and knowledge to prepare them to compete and excel in, as well as to further diversify, the profession he so loved.

Please join us in remembering Ken and his goals for these future MSU black engineering leaders with a contribution to the Kenneth E. Miller Excellence Endowment today.
